Terms & Conditions

Teacher-Swap is an online platform that connects South African educators who wish to arrange mutual school placement swaps. By using this website and any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Teacher-Swap is not a recruitment agency, an employer, or affiliated with the Department of Basic Education. We facilitate introductions only — all formal transfer arrangements remain the responsibility of the teachers and their employing education departments.

You must be a registered, practising South African educator holding a valid SACE registration number to create a profile and use the matching features of this platform.

By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate, current, and not misleading.

You are solely responsible for the content you submit to your profile, including your personal details, school information, and subject preferences. Teacher-Swap reserves the right to remove or suspend any profile that contains false, misleading, or inappropriate information.

You grant Teacher-Swap a non-exclusive licence to display your profile information to other registered users for the purpose of facilitating swap matches.

Accessing contact details of matched educators requires a once-off unlock fee of R49 (ZAR) per match. For "Hot Matches" (mutual high-compatibility matches), both parties must pay before contact details are revealed to either side.

All payments are processed securely via PayFast. Teacher-Swap does not store your card details. By proceeding with payment you also agree to PayFast's Terms of Service.

Refund policy: Due to the digital nature of the service, payments are non-refundable once contact details have been revealed. If you experience a technical issue preventing access after payment, contact us within 7 days and we will investigate.

Prices are quoted and charged in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of any applicable VAT.

Your personal information (name, email, cellphone number, school details) is collected for the sole purpose of facilitating teacher swap matches. We do not sell your data to third parties.

By creating a profile you consent to Teacher-Swap sending you email notifications about potential matches and platform updates. You may request removal of your data at any time by contacting us via WhatsApp or email.

All data is stored securely. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

You agree not to:

• Create a profile on behalf of another person without their consent.
• Use the platform to harass, spam, or solicit other educators for non-swap purposes.
• Attempt to bypass payment requirements through technical means.
• Misrepresent your qualifications, subjects, or school placement.
• Use automated tools to scrape or harvest profile data.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension of your account without refund.

Teacher-Swap acts as an intermediary and does not guarantee that any swap arrangement will be formally approved by the relevant education department. We are not liable for any losses arising from reliance on information provided by other users.

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Teacher-Swap's total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim.

All content on this platform — including the Teacher-Swap name, logo, design, and software — is the property of Teacher-Swap (Pty) Ltd and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of this platform without prior written consent.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest revision.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
